Fowey Regatta - 18-24 August 2019
For one fabulous week every August, Fowey hosts their Royal Regatta week - one of Britain's premier sailing events - and the town of Fowey comes alive with locals and visitors alike to enjoy the festivities. Whilst the water is a hive of activity for sailors, entertainment on land will keep the whole family busy, including crab catching, pasty eating and music on the quay.
The Working Boat race is one of the memorable sailing events as well as the familiar Fowey Troys.
Highlights include the spectacle of Wednesday's Carnival procession featuring locals and visitors in a weird and wonderful array of costumes and the Giant Pasty ceremony with the very loud arrival of the pasty by boat from Polruan accompanied by the Fowey Town Band.
Children will enjoy the swimming events, 'Spot the Stranger' in the shop windows throughout the town, and the whole family will enjoy the nightly musical entertainment on Town Quay.
The Regatta also hosts a full programme of sailing events, including the Troys, a class of sailing boat built only in Fowey.
