Every year, the whole region bursts into life with an extraordinary array of winter wonders and festive fabulousness that’s nothing short of captivating. For example, we highly recommend checking out at least a couple of the world-class Christmas markets you’ll find dotted across the area.
Padstow Christmas Festival for one celebrates its eight year this December, while the Trereife Christmas Gift Fair is just the place to head to pick up a few last minute essentials. And of course, it’s the perfect excuse to explore the delights of Penzance – a genuine jewel in the Cornish crown. Fowey Christmas Market will also be delighting revellers again in early December, as will the always-amazing Truro Victorian Christmas market.
Another excellent place to head for a real taste of all-things white and wonderful is the Eden Project, which each year hosts an ice skating extravaganza in undoubtedly one of the most spectacular settings imaginable. Advance booking is never a bad idea, but you’ll have plenty of time to join the action as the ice rink is usually up and running until late February.
If you’d prefer something a little more tranquil and slow-paced, the town of Fowey itself is just the place to while away a few hours pretty much doing nothing at all or contemplating the harbour from your sea view cottage while reading a book. The quaintness and cosiness of this classic Cornish fishing village takes on a whole new dynamic in the winter. Explore the independent shops and small art galleries, try some of the finest local cuisine and lap up the luxury to your heart’s content. What’s more, you’ll be just a stone’s throw from Mevagissey, Looe, Polperro and Charlestown – four equally stunning coastal villages with their own unique delights that are well worth exploring.
If the weather’s on your side, Fowey and Cornwall in general are the most outstanding natural playgrounds in the United Kingdom. If however it’s a little grey and gloomy, take it from us when we say you’ll find more than enough festive cheer right here in Fowey to keep you and the whole family wonderfully warm and energised throughout the winter season. There’s so much more to Cornwall than sun, sea and sand – come see for yourself this winter and enjoy our cottages special offers!
