The Village of Tywardreath

Tywardreath is a small hilltop village in south Cornwall about 3 miles north west of Fowey. It is located in a sheltered spot overlooking a silted up estuary opposite Par and near the beach of Par Sands (it takes about 15 minutes to walk to Par Beach). The village sits on the Saints' Way trail and there are other walks to discover both coastal and inland scenery. The village is easily accessible from the main road and enjoys many local amenities and services such as a butcher, grocer, newsagent, fish and chip shop, hair dresser and a pub.

Tywardreath (pronounced Ti War Dreth) is Cornish for a manorial centre on a beach, or House on the Strand, and was featured by Daphne du Maurier in her novel The House on the Strand.

The Saints' Way is the Cornwall Coast to Coast trail through mid Cornwall from Padstow to Fowey - a walk of 28 miles Coast to Coast across the heart of the region. The trail is signposted and fully marked on OS maps. Based on ancient trade routes the trail passes the well known white peaks and dams of China Clay Country.

Tywardreath is a great holiday destination and gives you easy access to the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and many more local attractions.
