Porthpean & Pentewan
Pentewan is quite simply everything the quintessential Cornish seaside village should be. Small, uncrowded, quiet and absolutely packed with local charm and flavour.
Further along the coast again, but still within the St. Austell Bay, is Porthpean, a small village with a sheltered sandy beach and an active sailing club (temporary holiday membership is available for visitors). Porthpean beach is popular with families as it has good facilities (ie car park, toilets, refreshments) and enjoys safe bathing. There is a dog ban between Easter and October.
Pentewan is a small coastal community with a village square, pub, shop, garage/petrol filling station, excellent restaurant and large sandy beach, over half a mile long.
