Following the successful mid 1970s TV production of Poldark, the drama once again returns to our TV screens for an 8 week run on BBC1 from Sunday 8 March. Filmed throughout Cornwall, we are bound for dramatic scenes as the county's rugged natural beauty is suitably adapted to Winston Graham's Poldark novels. If this series of Poldark proves successful the BBC plan to adapt all 12 of the novels.
In the original Poldark dramatisation televised in the mid 1970s, Poldark was played by Robin Ellis and Demelza by Angharad Rees. In the new series, the character of Poldark will be played by Aidan Turner and Demelza by Eleanor Tomlinson.
One of the locations in Cornwall used for this new TV series of Poldark is Charlestown Harbour, and nearby Fowey is a great place to choose for your holiday cottage in Cornwall so you can explore this and other filming locations.
