This outstanding harbour fronting property, constructed of Cornish stone, was rebuilt from a group of very old buildings, some years ago to form a property of considerable charm and character.Refuge Court is the winter home of the owner's family and as such is beautifully kept and equipped. The property is approached down a narrow private passageway from Trafalgar Square through a delightful flower-filled courtyard garden. The front door opens into a flagstone hallway, with a beautiful view through the house to the harbour. The modern, open plan kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, gas hob and electric oven, fridge/freezer and microwave. Off the kitchen is the utility/laundry room and cloakroom/WC. From the kitchen area, the spacious living area is comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated, with rugs on the stone floor. French doors lead out onto a large balcony, which is directly over the river, harbour beach and the sea at high tide. The views from here are stunning looking out to Polruan, the river Fowey and the open sea. The harbour is always full of interest with ferryboats, yachts (Refuge Court is very close to the Fowey Yacht club) and the great china clay container ships, which pass within yards of the balcony.
Upstairs there is a wealth of natural wood, stone work and beams. The landing has an unusual wood railed ‘minstrels gallery' which is an attractive feature. There are three bedrooms, all with en-suite shower rooms and WCs. Bedroom 1 has a double bed with matching furniture and beautiful harbour views, as does Bedroom 2 with a single bed. Bedroom 3 has twin beds and overlooks the pretty courtyard garden.
Children over 12 years are most welcome, however, parents must supervise children at all times and particularly on the balcony.
